Bis 256 Farben kein Problem. Bei hoeheren Aufloesungen bleiben die Iconfelder leer.

Mit CDRecorder 2 (fast) solange es das Programm gibt. Mit CDCopy einlesen und mit CDRecorder Pro brennen.

Ja, das kann funktionieren. besser ist jedoch ein CD writer und CD-Recorder 2....

In der 2.28 Version gab es einen Fehler, der in der Version 2.30 beseitigt ist.

wenn der writer kompatibel zu den älteren writern von Philips ist, kann er problemlos angepasst werden. Diese Anpassung ist in jedem Fall notwendig. Dafür benötige ich die genaue SCSI Identifikations-Meldung (SCSI Test mit HDDriver o.a.)
Die Rewriter Funktionen werden nicht unterstützt (braucht man die überhaupt?)

Das hat mit der CD Writer-Software nichts zu tun. Das Extrahieren von Audio CDs ist immer problembehaftet. Es kann gehen, muss aber nicht.
Dies ist vergleichbar mit dem Einlesen eines Textdokumentes mit dem Scanner und OCR Software. Man kann gute Ergebnisse bekommen, es kann aber auch daneben gehen. 100% geht es auf keinen Fall, da keine Kontrollmöglichkeiten auf der Audio CD vorgesehen sind.
>Bei der Gelegenheit fiel mir noch was auf: In der Test/Brenn-Dialogbox wird Speed immer mit 4x vorgegeben, auch wenn vorher mit 1x bzw. 2x gearbeitet wurde. Das ist schlecht, falls man eine Serie brennt und immer wieder den Speed vorgeben muss oder einfach nur vergisst. DerWert fuer Speed sollte gemerkt werden.

Diese Fehlermeldung ist bekannt und ab Version 2.32 behoben.

Von der IDE HD booten CDRecorder von der IDE Platte starten und bitte ca. 10 MB für ein CD-Image reservieren z.B. Partition D:\
- Seagate 1G, 1 HD HP 2G SCSI Platte für diesen Test bitte aus dem System entfernen (sonst ID=0)
- FX Karte für diesen Test bitte entfernen, abschaltet oder disablen...
- CD-Rom Pioneer 24X SCSI für diesen Test aus dem System entfernen
- CD-Rom Philips CDD 2600 als einziges SCSI Gerät an den Falcon anschließen und auf ID 6 stellen. Mit einem Terminator terminieren.
- HDDriver - ok.
- NVDI installiert lassen
- MagiC bitte nicht installieren!
- Metados 2.62 nicht installieren! Wird zum Brennen nicht benötigt!
- Bus Arbitrierung anschalten und auf Falcon ID=7 stellen (eventuell BOOTCONF.APP) benutzen
- CDRecorder Pro 2.28 starten und auf ISO Level= Atari stellen
- einige Dateien (z.B. Autoordner) in das NEW.CD Feld ziehen
- Recorder: Philips auf ID=6 selektieren (Falcon ist auf ID=7, keine weiteren SCSI Geräte)
- Achtung: Image Pfad auf D:\ einstellen (siehe oben)
- Record VIA IMAGE !
- Die CD muss jetzt korrekt beschrieben werden.
- Wenn in dieser Kombination Probleme auftreten, bitte genau beschreiben (Firmware Writer etc.) und per eMail an m_pohl@compuserve.com

alle Philips, Teac und Yamaha kompatiblen Writer. Es gibt jetzt neue Teac Writer unter dem Namen Traxdata. Frag doch mal nach dem Preis.

Davon ist hier auch nichts zu bemerken. Ich hab' hier eine CD, auf der noch 4 MB frei waren; die Option "No more sessions" wurde _nicht_ selektiert.

> wenn ich ein CD_IMAGE.DAT frisch erstellt habe und danach [Record...] anwaehle, dort "via CD_IMAGE.DAT" ankreuze, dann erstellt CDRECPRO.APP trotzdem _nochmal_ ein CD_IMAGE.DAT. Und das ist IMHO unnoetig. Eine Funktion "use existing CD_IMAGE.DAT" o.ae. waere mir da lieber.

Achtung vorab: CD Audiotracks sind keine CD-ROM Daten. Es gibt kein echtes Dateisystem und keine Checksummen. Die Daten werden nicht kopiert, sondern extrahiert. Das ähnelt dem Einlesen eines Dokuments mit einem Scanner und OCR Software. Und das ohne Kontrolle und leider immer (auf allen Systemen dieser Welt) mit der Einschränkung, dass die Daten stimmen können aber nicht stimmen müssen..
Die Audio Read Funktion (nicht Audio Play) der einzelnen CD-ROM Laufwerke und CD Writer wird von der Metados Installation (Treiber, Reader etc.) unterschiedlich unterstützt. Das benutzen, was (scheinbar) funktioniert. Es lohnt nicht (s.o.) zuviel Mühe zu investieren.
>Bei Audio-Tracks klappt es allerdings nicht. Bei 4x erscheint ein "Error: -1157580288", bei 1x und 2x der besagte "Timeout". Das war auch der Grund, warum ich immer (auch bei Daten) 1x oder 2x genommen habe.
- dieser Error ist ein Buffer underrun
- der Timeout ist ab der Version 2.32 beseitigt.

Achtung: Der Metados CD-ROM Treiber hat mit dem Brennen von CDs NICHTS zu tun!

Er funktioniert und damit hat sich dieses Problem erledigt.

Um 44.1 kHz Stereo Audiofiles auf einer CD-ROM zu sichern zuerst eine "normale Datei" in das New CD Fenster ziehen und das Format stellt sich auf CD-ROM.
Ob das Überspielen von Audiodaten über SCSI funktioniert hängt u.a. von den Timingtoleranzen der eingesetzten Hardware ab. Es geht sogar so weit, daß bei zwei Laufwerken des gleichen Bautyps das eine funktionieren kann und das andere nicht. Es ist auch egal, ob es sich um ein zweifach-, zwölffach oder 24fachfach-speed Laufwerk handelt.
Wir haben eine Anlage, auf der das Überspielen von Audiodaten über SCSI ohne hörbare Fehler funktioniert. Der CDROM player ist ein ganz alter Toshiba XM5201.
Merke: Wenn Du dieses Laufwerk irgendwo gebraucht beschaffen kannst, ist es KEINESWEGS sicher, daß es auch auf Deiner Anlage funktionieren wird (siehe oben). Du kannst es ja auf dein eigenes Risiko versuchen.
TIP: Profis überspielen Audio CDs mittels eines S/PDIF auf Festplatte. Das funktioniert immer. Alles andere ist höchst unsicher.
>nach wie vor denke ich immer noch über den Kauf eines CD-Brenners nach. Allerdings bin ich mir nicht sicher, wie es um das digitale Auslesen von Audio CDs steht. Wenn ich mit SPIN!0.32 nämlich Audio-Tracks kopiere, kommt es häufig vor, daß die Tracks Knackser oder Stocken enthalten. Daher meine Frage, ob bei dem CD-Recorder Paket ein vernünftiges Programm zum qualitativ hochwertigem Auslesen von Audiotracks >vorhanden ist, oder ob ein solches existiert.
Das digitale Auslesen von CDs ist aus physikalisch-technischen Gründen problematisch. Warum dies so ist, wurde ausführlich in der ct 12/97 erläutert. Wenn das Laufwerk die Daten korrekt liefert, kann mit CD Copy (aus dem CDRecorder Paket) eine korrekte Kopie erzeugt werden. Leider ist das in der Realität nicht immer der Fall. Abhilfe kann das Programm CDReader von Klaus Heyne bieten, mit dem Lese-Fehler erkannt werden können. In jedem Fall ist das Extrahieren von Audio CDs eine wacklige Angelegenheit und immer unprofessionell, da keine Kontrolle und kein Verify möglich ist. Nur das Überspielen via SPDIF kann als korrekt angesehen werden. Unabhängig davon arbeitet die CDRecorder Software auf technisch höchstem Niveau und ausgesprochen zuverlässig.

Nein, zur Zeit nicht

Direkte Überspielung ist z.Zt. noch nicht möglich. Wie empfehlen AudioMaster als Schnittsoftware.

Ja, wenn sie im Format stereo/44,1 kHz vorliegen.

Das CPX unterstützt in der Tat nur das erste von SCSI_CD.BOS verwaltete Gerät, in aller Regel ein CD-Brenner. Nur bei den SCSI_CD.BOS bekannten Geräten wird das Umschalten der Sessions unterstützt.

Das CPX (Version 1.01) unterstützt SCSI_CD.BOS nur in der Version 1.16 vom 16.05.97. Leider arbeitet jedoch dieser Treiber nicht mit allen CD-Writern zusammen. Eine Lösung des Problems wird gesucht.
Umgehen kann man das Problem leicht dadurch, daß immer die Funktion 'read previous session' benutzt wird. In diesem Fall hat man Zugriff auf alle Daten der CD über das Inhaltsverzeichnis der letzten Session. Das Umschalten entfällt vollständig.

Das stimmt, aber für die Diskversion muss das TT-RAM Flag disabled sein, weil sonst der Kopierschutz nicht funktioniert...

MagiC is ok, but sometimes it causes problems with CD-ROM and Metados. Please check the SPIN package (Julian Reschke).

Metados is the Atari AUTO PRG that installs the *.BOS driver (hardware unit CD-ROM or CD-Writer driver) and the *.DOS driver (file system driver for CD-ROM file systems e.g. ISO system)
Without Metados, the Atari system does not have access to CD-ROM.
CDRecorder Pro itself doesn't need Metados to write or read (check CD or read preavious session) but the CPX needs Metados. On the other hand you don't need the CPX if you always use the recommended function' read preavious session'!

yes - install a big and fast (eg. 4 GB) internal IDE drive into your Falcon. Don't use any ICD drivers for SoundPool HD Recordig. Use NVDI, kill FPATCH2, work in 16 colors mode.

unfortunately not. CDRecorder 2 supports Philips, Teac and Yamaha (and MMC compatible) writers. If Panasonic is MMC (Yamaha) compatible it might work, but this is not tested yet. Not supported are: JVC, Sony, Ricoh etc.

ok. we got two types of copy protection for SoundPool software:
type 1: hardware key (dongle) containing a serial number (dongle number). Used together with a license file (e.g. CDREC.MOD) for the certain program or module (part of program e.g. Analyser, EQ etc.) To start the program you need the DONGLE version of the program, the Dongle in ROM port of your computer and the appropiate MOD file in the program directory. This works with: AudioMaster, Mastering Modules, CDRecorder 2, AudioTracker, DataDat
type 2: original disk (with copy protection - of course not the program disk of the dongle version) to start program you need the DISK version of the program (on your HD drive) and the original Disk in drive A: of your computer. This works with: CDRecorder 2, AudioTracker, WaveMaster
- if you got a CDRecorder original disk (type 2) of course you do not have a MOD file (type 1). You have to use the DISK version together with original disk in drive A:
- if you got already a SoundPool Key (bought with AudioMaster or Mastering Modules) you can change your CDRecorder original DISK into a CDRecorder MOD file (Dongle Version).
In this case please send this original disk directly to

the ABSORPTION ERROR CONTROL messages is generated by the writer. Normally it indicates a hardware problem (media error or laser problems).

Prog when you click on the prog nothing happens! (this happens regardless of what cd is in the drive)

Not yet. Everthing is prepared but not yet tested.

We recommend Philips, Yamaha or Teac compatible drives. No Sony, Rihco, JVC or Panasonic etc.

No, not yet, this takes time...

IDE drives are twice as fast on the Falcon. The SCSI drive will always cause problem with all HD and CD recording programs. The exception is Cubase Audio that works with SCSI drives only (but on an other reason).
- always use IDE drive and, if possible WAVE files, when you record audio cds in 4 x speed (AVR and AIFF files has to be processed while writing to work with the TEAC writer)
- always use IDE drive and 'via image' option when writing data in 4 x speed
>Ach ja, ich hatte Ihnen vor laengerer Zeit mein Problem mit Ihrer CD-Recorder Software geschildert. Auch nachdem ich meinen Autoordner aufgeraeumt hatte, laeuft CAF nicht richtig, wenn der SCSI_CD.BOS Treiber und die restliche Software aktiv vorliegt. Erst wenn ich alle Programme die in den Autoordner gehoeren deaktiviert habe funktioniert CAF wieder.

yes, if you own a SoundPool key we can license the CDRecorder on this hardware dongle. If you don't own one you have to buy it directly from SoundPool. But the problem is that there are no keys in stock.

This should be no problem. Until now we didn't have any faulty key disks. Please remember: you can entirely delete all files on the original disk, but you must not format it.

You heave to install two hardware drivers *.BOS (with different SCSI IDs) and two file system drivers *.DOS in the Config.sys file. Pretty easy.

I have copied some audio-CDs by the CD-COPY program. I had no problems as long as I just took the AVR files and loaded them into CDRecorder (for audio CDs). But sometimes when I wanted to process the AVR files, and I used Zero-X for this task, I discovered that the new (and processed) AVR file only played 50% of the lenght/time in CDRecorder (it played OK in Zero-X). I got around the problem by converting (by Zero-X) the AVR file to an AIF file, and now CDRecorder handled then file OK. I desided that it was a Zero-X fileformat problem and wrote to them. BUT.... Its not all audiotracks CD-COPY can read (they may be damaged). I found a PD program called CDP(layer) and it does the job very well (mabye you can improved your CD-COPY with better error-correction). Anyway CDP writes AVR-files too, and again when I loaded them into CDRecorder the half-size problem where there again. I now loaded them into Zero-X to check "the size" and here they played OK. I converted them, like before, to AIF files and again CDRecorder handled them OK. So, as you mabye also concluded, CDRecorder may have a AVR file format problem ???. Think about it / or even check it.... Thanks anyway for a splended CDRecorder program.
Check if the Yamaha writer appears in the writer selection box (recorder). Click on the entry and start a test run with only one file (from IDE or the floppy disk). You don't have to use the 'via image' option, because it is only one file.
If the test run is ok. build up your system step by step. If the test run fails, please try again and then check with an other CD writer.

Most of all problems are caused by a faulty SCSI chain. 'Faulty' means that it doesn't work with the Falcon. I think it is a good idea to work with a fast and big IDE HD drive instead of SCSI HD drives for CD recording.
